Wenatchee Valley Renaissance Faire
Sixth annual Wenatchee Valley Renaissance Faire at WVC April 20-21
Wenatchee Valley College will host the sixth annual Wenatchee Valley Renaissance Faire on April 20, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and April 21 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the soccer fields on the Wenatchee campus. The main entrance will be west of the tennis courts.
Ring and foam-tip jousting on horseback will be a new addition to the faire this year. Activities include shield designs, a Shoot-a-Knight game, a grail quest and the annual Maypole dance hosted by the local branch of the Society for Creative Anachronism. The event will also include a musical performance by All Strings Considered, a fire show by Ignition Fire, rogue wanderings by The Pirates of Treasure Island, belly dancing by members of the Sabah Tribe, and the enchanting Princess Lolly. The Knights of Veritas will provide informative demonstrations.
Period costumes, as well as fantasy, live-action-role-playing (LARP) and medieval dress are encouraged but not required.
Admission is free for children five and under and for WVC students with current student ID cards. General admission for a one-day pass is $9 for adults and $6 for children between six and 17 years of age.
Tickets may be purchased in advance at Brown Paper Tickets, www.wenren.brownpapertickets.com. They may also be purchased at the entrance, cash only.
Over 1,600 people attended the 2012 Wenatchee Renaissance Faire, and attendance is projected to be over 2,000 this year.
